Murat Munkin
Dr. Murat Munkin is an associate professor of economics at the University of South Florida, Tampa, U.S. Earlier, he was a visiting senior research economist at the Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; a visiting associate professor at Qatar University, Doha, Qatar; and an associate professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, U.S. He received his PhD in economics from Indiana University, Bloomington, U.S., and a diploma (honors) in mathematics from Moscow State University, Russia.
Dr. Munkin’s Fulbright project is studying how private medical insurance in Kazakhstan can potentially change the entire healthcare system of the country, and more specifically, how it can affect access to quality medical services, including preventative care which is the main contributor to reducing mortality and morbidity rates.
