
Arvindd Narayanan
Shri Arvindd Narayanan started learning violin (Carnatic Classical) at an early age from Gana Bhushanam Shri Janakiraman. His major learning comes from Sangeeta Kalanidhi, Padma Bhushan Late Prof. T. N. Krishnan. True to Prof. Krishnan’s style of playing, Shri Arvindd has also imbibed the gayaki style (a style which delivers the music with all the depth and emotion of a human voice – vocal style in instrumental music) of playing and brings it out in his performances. He was also under the able tutelage of late Smt. Radha Krishna based in Delhi. Presently, continues his musical journey with Shri. Kannan Krishna based in Dallas, Tx, USA. He continues to learn, perform and teach violin.
He is a graded artist in the All India Radio/Doordarshan. He has given solo performances and has accompanied many artists in various concerts in India and has performed under various forums/banners of music – different Sabha’s in Delhi and other states, Sangeet Natak Academy, National School of Drama, All India Radio, Door Darshan to name a few. He is a known name and a regular performer in the Delhi Carnatic music circuits. He is conversant with both solo and accompaniment way of playing violin.
Apart from Carnatic music, he also tries innovations with other forms of music. He experiments with various other instruments and styles to produce “enjoyable music” without diluting the essence of Carnatic music. He has been part of music bands which promote classical music among youth and masses, wherein essence of Carnatic music is kept intact. He has been learning, performing and teaching Carnatic violin for more than 2 decades.
He is the General Secretary of Music Society, which does innovative work in music including music direction, lecture demonstrations, teaching music to underprivileged students and organizing concerts.
His deep passion for elderly care has led him to start a not-for-profit organization which works for elderly care. He has also introduced Music Therapy for Caregivers as a course which has been adopted by Ministry of Social Justice, Government of India. He is also part of National Expert Group on Geriatric Care. He takes out time to devote himself to his musical pursuits by learning, teaching and performing. He encourages and teaches young talent and shapes them in the field of Instrumental violin – Carnatic classical music in India and abroad. Many of his students are also Center for Cultural Resource & Training (CCRT), Ministry of Culture, Government of India scholarship recipients. He lives in New Delhi with his mother, wife and two children.
