Ashwin Reddy
Ashwin Reddy is a Johns Hopkins medical student (Class of 2026) and has a bachelor of science degree in human biology from Stanford University. He is an aspiring otolaryngologist who is committed to addressing global surgical disparities. His global health journey began with fieldwork in India and includes studies on refugee health in Tanzania, medical supply initiatives for war-impacted hospitals in Ukraine, and contributions to an online residency curriculum for head and neck surgeons in Haiti.
Ashwin’s Fulbright-Fogarty research is taking place in Bhaktapur, Nepal, where he is examining hearing loss among marginalized brick kiln workers in order to develop prevention strategies and advocate for a better occupational health environment. As part of his research, Ashwin is conducting pure-tone audiometry assessments among 200 brick kiln workers and 200 matched controls using pure-tone audiometry. He is also examining occupational and demographic predictors of hearing impairment. Findings from this research will provide evidence for informing hearing-loss prevention strategies and advocating for the rights and well-being of vulnerable workers in the brick industry.
