Lindy Reynolds
Lindy Reynolds received her master’s degree in global health from Duke University and is currently enrolled in the epidemiology PhD program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her interest in injury epidemiology developed from her experience working in the sports medicine department during university and while doing coursework on social determinants of health. She has previously conducted research in Sri Lanka and interned in the Quality Systems & Resilience Unit at the World Health Organization. Outside of global health work, she enjoys rock climbing, teaching people how to ski, and baking.
Lindy’s Fulbright project is studying the experiences of patients between the time when they are injured and when they arrive at the emergency department of a hospital. Examples of injuries include, but are not limited to, car accidents, falls, animal bites, cuts, burns, and poisoning. Her study is collecting information from patients or their family members on how and where they were injured, whether they received care prior to arrival at the hospital or if there was a delay in getting care; information is also being gathered on the mode of transport to the hospital and transport time; besides, patient outcomes are being tracked throughout their stay in the hospital.
