Mohammad Ghaziuddin
Dr. Mohammad Ghaziuddin was born and raised in India where he received his basic medical degree (MBBS) from Osmania University in Hyderabad. He obtained higher training in general psychiatry (MRCPsych) in London, UK, and specialized in child psychiatry at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he is now a professor. His main clinical and research interests are in the field of autism. An author of two books and over 100 peer-reviewed articles, he likes traveling and teaching. Before his current Fulbright grant, he had successfully completed a Fulbright Specialist grant (February to March 2024) in Tashkent.
Dr. Ghaziuddin’s Fulbright project is designing and implementing a residency (postgraduate) training program in child psychiatry in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, a country of 36 million people which does not have a designated child psychiatry training program although child mental health disorders, such as autism, attention deficit disorder, and depression, are on the rise there. It is hoped that this first training program of its kind in Uzbekistan will also have its impact throughout Central Asia.
